This gorge is approximately 825 km long and reaches a local depth of nearly 2 km for a width of about 20 km, making it a more important formation than the Grand Canyon on Earth. It has its source in the heart of Terra Cimmeria, one of the oldest regions of Mars, which is supposed to have sheltered a vast Noachian lake, Lake Eridania. It leads into the Gusev crater, which would have sheltered another smaller lake.

Filigrane "THIS PAPER MANUFACTURED BY KODAK” au verso de chaque tirage
