Black holes and quantum gravitation

Aurélien BARRAU

Einstein's theory is magnificent and remarkable but it is not "complete". We must go beyond that to take quantum physics into account. I will present the general ideas of quantum gravitation and the revolutionary image it leads to when applied to black holes and the Big Bang. We will study the new image of the world that is taking shape and question its legitimacy and credibility.

Lecture by astrophysicist Aurélien Barrau at the 11th edition of the Rencontres du ciel et de l'espace, on November 2, at the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie.
